Five charged over Basingstoke murder

Police investigating the murder of Frazer Brabant in Basingstoke in October 2019 have charged five men.

Scott Neale, 34, from Spindle Close, Basingstoke, has been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit GBH with intent and violent disorder.

Lee Wood, 31, from Halsbury Road East, Northolt, has been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit GBH with intent and violent disorder.

Forhad Miah, 31, from Chestnuts Close, Oakley, has been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit GBH with intent and violent disorder.

James O’Connor, 24, from Fairfield, Whitchurch, has been charged with murder.

Ricky Lewis, 40, from Candover Court, Basingstoke, has been charged with conspiracy to commit GBH with intent and violent disorder.

They are all due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 4 October.

It comes after Mr Brabant was assaulted and found with serious head injuries in Gershwin Road on October 31.

Mr Brabant did not leave hospital and died on January 21, 2020.

All five have been remanded in custody.

A total of 18 people were arrested as part of the investigation into the death of Mr Brabant.

The other 13 people, who were arrested but never charged, have either been released and will face no further action or released under investigation and Police enquiries are ongoing.

They are:

A 60-year-old man, from Basingstoke, arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, has been released and will face no further action.

A 57-year-old woman, from Basingstoke, arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, has been released under investigation.

A 42-year-old man, from Basingstoke, arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, has been released and will face no further action.

A 38-year-old man, from Basingstoke, arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, has been released and will face no further action.

A 34-year-old man, from Basingstoke, arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, has been released and will face no further action.

A 30-year-old man, from Basingstoke, arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, has been released under investigation.

A 29-year-old man, from Basingstoke, arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, has been released and will face no further action.

A 28-year-old man, from Basingstoke, arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, has been released and will face no further action.

A 27-year-old man, from Wandsworth, arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, has been released under investigation.

A 27-year-old man, from Basingstoke, arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, has been released and will face no further action.

A 24-year-old woman, from Basingstoke, arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, has been released and will face no further action.

A 24-year-old man, from Basingstoke, arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, has been released and will face no further action.

A 23-year-old woman, from Whitchurch, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been released and will face no further action.
