Four men have been arrested after a major police response in the Asda car park on Chalfont Way in Lower Earley.

The men, aged between 19 and 21, were held on suspicion of firearms and drugs offences.

Two of them are from London, with the others from Reading and Hertfordshire.

Thames Valley Police said officers received a report at around 4.10pm on 21st September about a car seen in the Castle Hill area of Reading, whose occupants were believed to be in possession of a firearm.

The vehicle was later found in Lower Earley, where the four men were arrested.

All four remain in police custody while enquiries continue.

Police said no one was injured and there is not believed to be any ongoing threat to the public.

A BB gun was recovered, and an investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances.

The force said the response attracted significant public attention, with images and videos shared online.

Officers have asked anyone who witnessed what happened or captured footage to send it directly to them rather than sharing it on social media, as it may help the investigation.

Anyone with information can call 101 or make a report via the Thames Valley Police website.
