More than fifty firefighters have put a fire out at a house on the north Hampshire-Berkshire border.

The fire at Plastow Green between Greenham common and A-W-E Aldermaston broke out at 4am on Tuesday morning.

At its peak, the operation involved eight fire engines, two water carriers, and a range of specialised vehicles.

The fire was contained, and the incident was gradually scaled down to four fire engines by 11:00am.

Hampshire Fire and rescue service said their crews made every effort to save items from the property.

An investigation into the fire has taken place and the cause was the log burner, unfortunately then spreading to the roof.
