Elderly pedestrian dies in collision near Basingstoke

Police appeal for witnesses and footage

A woman in her 70s has died following a collision in Oakley.

The incident happened at 7.25pm yesterday (14th January) on Oakley Lane between the junctions of The Vale and Croft Road and involved a silver Audi A3 and the pedestrian.

Police have confirmed the woman died at the scene.

The Audi driver, a 41-year-old man from Basingstoke, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, drink driving, and drug driving. He remains in custody.

Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, saw the Audi or pedestrian before the incident, or has relevant dash cam or CCTV footage to come forward.
