The court sentenced Anthony Farr to 12 years in prison, a 15-year sexual harm prevention order, and lifelong inclusion on the sex offenders register
A man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for sexually abusing a young girl in West Berkshire, with additional orders to protect the public.
Anthony Farr, 59, of Southend Road, Bradfield Southend, was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Friday (27 June).
The judge also issued a 15-year sexual harm prevention order and placed Farr on the sex offenders register for life.
He was charged on 12 April last year.
Farr was found guilty by a jury on 12 May of one count of assault of a child under 13 by penetration and one count of inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.
The trial lasted 10 days. He was cleared of two counts of sexual assault of a child under 13 and one further count of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
Detective Constable Adele Shaw, the investigating officer, said: “I would like to commend the victim in this case for her strength and bravery in reporting this despicable sexual abuse to police. This case shows that we will always seek to support child sexual offence victims and protect the public by bringing their abusers to justice.”
