An 18-year-old man from Farnborough has been sentenced to 12 months in a Young Offender Institution after pleading guilty to offences including a violent baseball bat attack, dangerous driving and criminal damage.

Caleb Palmer, of Longfield Close, carried out a series of offences earlier this year, including hitting a man aged in his 30s with a baseball bat multiple times on Caswell Close, Farnborough. The incident, which occurred on 9th August 2025, left the victim with injuries to his head, back, and torso. Palmer also used the bat to smash a front window of a nearby house during the attack.

In another incident, Palmer threatened and assaulted a woman in her 20s on Greatfield Road on 1st October. Later that evening, he threw a brick at a wall outside a property, causing damage, and threatened to damage a police custody interview room after being arrested.

Additionally, investigations revealed Palmer had used false number plates on two separate occasions to fraudulently use a registration document and had committed two counts of dangerous driving earlier in the year.

Palmer pleaded guilty to all offences at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on 11th December 2025 and was sentenced to time in a Young Offender Institution.

Detective Constable Lauren Drysdale from CID North highlighted the serious nature of Palmer's actions, stating:

“Caleb Palmer used a weapon to carry out a terrifying attack which left a man with injuries to large parts of his body.

“We want to be clear – we will not tolerate this behaviour and those who commit acts of serious violence in our area will be pursued, and you will be put before the courts.

“I hope the victims in the case can now move forward knowing Palmer has been sentenced for his dangerous actions.”
