Englefield estate summer heritage concerts called off
A series of live concerts in the grounds of the Berkshire estate have been cancelled due to poor sales
A series of concerts at Englefield House near Reading have been called off due to poor ticket sales and rising costs.
The Heritage Live concert series has also announced the cancellation of its summer festivals in Audley End Estate in Essex, and Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, citing significantly lower than average ticket sales and ongoing financial uncertainty.
The concerts at Englefield were to feature Richard Ashcroft, UB40 featuring Ali Campbell, and Ministry of Sound Classical.
In a statement, Heritage Live organisers expressed their devastation at the need to cancel, explaining that efforts to secure an investment and equity package fell through, making it unfeasible to proceed.
The statement highlighted the challenges faced by independent promoters in a competitive festival market dominated by large multi-national companies, driving up costs for suppliers, artists, and staffing.
The organisers emphasised the impact of the cost-of-living crisis and general financial uncertainty on ticket sales, making it impossible to cover expenses sustainably.
Heritage Live assured ticket holders that refunds would be processed through agents including AXS Ticketing, Ticketmaster, See Tickets, Gigantic, Skiddle, and Ticketline, advising them to retain transaction receipts.
Many refunds will be automatic within a reasonable period.
The Englefield Estate said they were 'disappointed' by the news.
