Death investigation in Reading found to be non-suspicious
Police discovered the body of a man in his seventies on Wednesday, 12th August
Police have updated their investigation into the death of a man in Reading, originally suspected to be murder, to confirm it is now considered non-suspicious.
The incident took place on Wednesday, 12th August, when officers were called at 7.20am to a concern for welfare at an address on Wensley Road.
Upon arrival, police discovered the body of a man in his seventies inside the property.
An investigation was promptly launched, and a 60-year-old man from Reading was arrested on suspicion of murder based on the initial information.
However, following a Home Office Post Mortem and subsequent inquiries over the past two days, police have released the arrested man from custody, confirming no further action will be taken against him.
A file will be prepared for the Coroner, as authorities continue to examine the man's movements prior to his death.
Police remain keen to receive any information that could assist the Coroner's inquiry, particularly from anyone who was in the Wensley Road area between 2.30pm on 11th August and 8am on 12th August.
They request that anyone with relevant CCTV, doorbell, or dash cam footage come forward.
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the man who has sadly died.”
