A man has been jailed for drug supply offences following a Thames Valley Police investigation in Thatcham.

John Mckinnon, a 28-year-old from The Broadway, Thatcham, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply a class A drug at Reading Crown Court on 25th March.

On 3rd July, the same court sentenced Mckinnon to two years and four months' imprisonment.

The charges stem from a drug deal witnessed by officers at Mckinnon's address on the evening of 24th March.

When police forced entry into his property in response, Mckinnon attempted to evade arrest by jumping out of a skylight and across rooftops, landing in a nearby pub garden.

Following a search, officers discovered more than 10g of cocaine in the garden where Mckinnon was apprehended.

He was charged the next day.

PC Thomas Goold from the Newbury Neighbourhood Disruption Team highlighted Mckinnon's involvement in drug supply, stating: “Mckinnon was involved in the supply of class A drugs in our communities, bringing harmful substances into Thatcham.

“The supply of drugs such as cocaine causes significant harm to individuals, families and the wider community, and Thames Valley Police is committed to disrupting those involved in this criminality.

“Thanks to the proactive work of officers, drugs were recovered before they could be sold on our streets, and Mckinnon has now been brought before the courts and sentenced for his actions.

“We will continue to target those involved in the supply of illegal drugs and encourage anyone with information about drug-related activity in their area to report it to Thames Valley Police.”
