Cyclist seriously injured during hit and run crash in Thatcham
Police appeal for witnesses with dash-cam or CCTV footage
A cyclist has been seriously injured following a collision with a commercial vehicle in Thatcham.
The collision happened shortly before 8pm on Saturday (18 July) at the junction of Urquhart Road and Station Road.
The cyclist, a woman in her forties, was hit by a vehicle believed to be a 7.5-tonne van.
The vehicle left the scene without stopping.
The cyclist sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment in hospital.
PC Matthew Fairman of the Roads Policing Unit is leading the investigation to identify the vehicle and understand the circumstances of the collision:
“We are carrying out a thorough investigation to identify the vehicle involved and establish the circumstances of this collision."
"I am appealing to anybody who witnessed the collision, or who was driving in the area at the time and may have dash-cam footage, to please get in touch."
PC Fairman also expressed interest in hearing from anyone with CCTV footage capturing Station Road towards Thatcham town centre, where the vehicle might have travelled after the incident.
