Building grants available in west Berkshire
Community groups asked to apply
Last updated 2nd Aug 2024
West Berkshire council is inviting to apply for grants for local infrastructure projects for local community groups to bid into.
West Berkshire is launching its Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) for community groups. The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) money is a charge they receive from new developments, to go towards infrastructure and the Council has decided to allocate some of this towards community projects.
They're asking communities to bid for some of this income to benefit the areas across west Berkshire.
To date, they've approved over £1 million in community grants ranging from £10k to £100k. Successful bids included the renovation of village halls, scout huts and improvements to sports and playground facilities.
They're now allocating a further £500k of capital funding from their budget and are inviting bids from community groups, other infrastructure providers/partners in West Berkshire, Town and Parish Councils and organisations that wish to deliver infrastructure to benefit the residents and businesses of the area.
Brilliant
Councillor Iain Cottingham West Berkshire’s Executive Member for Finance and Resources said:
“We’re delighted to be offering funding for this brilliant scheme. We want to work closely with our local communities to deliver local infrastructure for our residents across the district. This is a great opportunity for Town and Parish Councils, local organisations and partners to collaborate and utilise this and other funding streams to bid to benefit their communities.”
Bids are open until 5pm on 16 September. More information and Bid forms are available at Bidding for Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funds funds ){:target=_blank}
