Police investigating a fatal road traffic collision in Calcot last week have made another arrest, as inquiries continue.

A 27-year-old man from Reading was arrested on 2nd December on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene. He has been bailed with conditions, pending further investigation.

Another man, aged 41 and also from Reading, was arrested last week on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and has since been released under investigation.

The collision occurred near Lidl’s car park on the A4 Bath Road between 6:20 am and 6:40 am on 26th November. A man in his sixties lost his life.

Sergeant Matt Cadmore, of the Roads Policing Unit, described the investigation as "ongoing and extremely complex" and confirmed the victim’s family is being supported by specially trained liaison officers.

He said, “I am re-appealing for anybody who believes they may have information to come forward. Even the smallest piece of information may prove vital in helping us understand what happened."

He specifically urged drivers travelling along the A4 Bath Road last Wednesday between the M4 and Reading town centre to check dash-cam footage for any unusual or suspicious activity.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police, via their online reporting system or by calling 101, quoting reference 43250602213.
