Bracknell lorry driver arrested after serious crash in Surrey

A pedestrian in her 70s suffered life changing injuries

A lorry driver has been arrested following a serious crash involving a pedestrian in Surrey.

Emergency services were called to Pembroke Road at the junction with Pembroke Gardens in Woking shortly after 1pm on Tuesday (1 April) following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a lorry.

The pedestrian, a woman in her 70s, is in a critical condition in hospital. Her injuries have been described as life changing by Surrey Police.

The driver of the lorry, a 40-year-old man from Bracknell, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drugs.

Enquires remain ongoing and the driver has been released on police bail.

Surrey Police are now appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.
