Man jailed after assault and theft in Basingstoke
A man suffered a broken jaw and was taken to hospital to receive treatment

A man has been sentenced to 46 weeks in prison after pleading guilty to a series of offences, including breaking a man's jaw during an incident in Basingstoke.
The assaults and theft took place on 16th April, leading to swift police action and subsequent arrest near the train station.
The first incident involved a man in his 50s who suffered a broken jaw and required hospital treatment following an assault near Basingstoke train station.
Shortly thereafter, officers were alerted to another assault on Alencon Link involving a man in his 40s, who thankfully escaped injury.
Officers also responded to a reported theft of food from Greggs near the bus station.
Daniel Harris, 38, with no fixed abode, was arrested and charged with wounding, assault by beating, and theft from a shop.
Harris entered guilty pleas to all charges and received his sentence at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on 8th May.
T/Detective Constable Mia Jones from Basingstoke CID commented on Harris's actions, describing them as "violent, reckless, and extremely dangerous."
Jones expressed satisfaction with the swift arrest and the accumulation of sufficient evidence that led to Harris's conviction.
"I hope this result highlights we will do all we can to ensure that those who commit offences in our area will face the consequences of their actions," Jones said.
