Officers in Basingstoke are asking the public for help after two thefts were reported in The Malls on 26th January.

During one incident, an 18-year-old woman was targeted for her phone, although she was unharmed.

In another, a 25-year-old man was assaulted with a hammer and had his mountain bike stolen.

Police have released images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the thefts.

The suspect is described as white, between 20 and 35 years old, slim, with a beard.

He wore distinct clothing including brown shoes, grey joggers, hi-vis gloves, a black jacket or hoodie, and a red drawstring bag.

He also had a work belt with a hammer attached and wore a black balaclava.

Authorities urge the man, or anyone who knows him, to get in touch.
