Attempted robbery incident in Basingstoke

A woman on a mobility scooter had been approached by two men on the Crossover Bridge

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a report of an attempted robbery in Basingstoke.

Officers were called to a report that a woman on a mobility scooter had been approached by two men on the Crossover Bridge between Abbey Road and Stratfield Road at around 2.30pm on Tuesday (4 November).

The woman, who is in her 30s, was grabbed and struck in the ribs.

One of the men then attempted to tamper with her mobility scooter.

She suffered pain to his ribs as a result of the incident.

A bystander saw what happened, intervened, and the two men fled the scene. Nothing was taken.

The men have been described as:

Mixed race, aged in his 20s, 5ft 11ins tall, slim build. He was wearing a black puffer jacket, black beanie hat, black snood, black jeans and black trainers.

White, aged in his 20s, 5ft 9ins tall, slim build. He was wearing black clothing.

Officers are carrying out enquiries and would like to hear from witnesses, particularly the bystander who intervened during the incident.
