18-year-old arrested after firearm incident in Basingstoke
An investigation is ongoing
An 18-year-old man has been arrested following a reported firearm incident in Basingstoke.
Officers responded to Dankworth Road at around 12.29pm on 12th March, where it was reported that a firearm had been used at an address, causing damage to windows.
There were no immediate reports of injuries; however, a man was later found with a minor hand injury at a separate location.
The police have launched an investigation, deploying specialist officers to examine the area and conduct enquiries.
The arrested man, from Basingstoke, is currently in custody on suspicion of aggravated burglary.
Chief Inspector Hayley O’Grady reassured the community, stating, “I know incidents like this can be unsettling, but I would like to stress that this is believed to be an isolated incident, with no risk to the wider public identified at this time."
She affirmed that the case is being taken seriously and that additional police presence will be visible as enquiries continue, including house-to-house visits and CCTV reviews.
The public is encouraged to speak to uniformed officers if they have further information or concerns.
