Plans have been submitted to expand a waste treatment site near Basingstoke, with the aim of producing more recycled soil, gravel, and sand.

The application, submitted by DIY Aggregates Limited to Hampshire County Council, also includes proposals to build a storage barn, aggregate bays, and add landscaping and improved access around the Stapeley Manor Farm in Odiham.

According to the company, the new storage barn will help keep topsoil dry, preventing it from becoming heavy and cutting down on the number of lorry trips needed to transport it.

Wheel-washing facilities are also part of the plans, designed to stop mud and materials from being carried onto nearby roads.

The site currently recycles soils and aggregates, turning construction waste into reusable materials and keeping it out of landfill.

In its planning statement, DIY Aggregates said the project would boost the county’s capacity to recycle building materials and support the local circular economy.
