11 arrested in drugs and weapons crackdown in north and east Hants
Eleven people have been arrested after drugs and weapons were discovered during a police crackdown on the roads in north and east Hampshire.
Officers were out in force as part of a three-day operation to target offenders.
Out of 69 vehicles stopped, seven ended up being seized.
The operation was led by Hampshire Police's Neighbourhood Enforcement Team and the Intelligence department, with support from teams including the Country Watch Taskforce and Roads Policing Unit.
The force also collaborated with neighbouring police outfits in the South, to target criminals who regularly crossed borders.
Sergeant Nikki Hopkins, from Hampshire's Neighbourhood Enforcement Team, said: “This is the second time we have run this operation in Hampshire in recent months, and we are seeing some real results.
“This operation has seen us collaborate with neighbouring forces, as well as acting on Automatic Number Plate Recognition information and intelligence, to target those criminals travelling on our road networks.
“The message is clear to those criminals who exploit our roads networks and force boundaries – we are taking action to bring you to justice.”
The operation ran between Tuesday 13 January to Thursday 15 January.
Across all forces, 86 arrests were made, more than £10,000 in cash seized, over 50 drugs seizures completed, and 59 vehicles seized.
