Four youths arrested after knife report in Stevenage

Police have arrested four youths in Stevenage town centre after receiving reports of a knife being brandished in public on 7th August.

Officers were alerted by a call from a citizen who witnessed a group of youths, one of whom was displaying a knife.

The police located the group and conducted a search, discovering a kitchen knife, plyers, two screwdrivers, and a small quantity of cannabis.

The four individuals were arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, burglary, and possession of cannabis.

A Hertfordshire Police spokesperson said:

"Several arrests were made in Stevenage town centre after reports of a knife being brandished.

"On Friday 7 August, Police received a call stating that a member of the public had seen several youths in Stevenage town centre with one of them showing off a knife.

"Police found the group and detained them for a search. A kitchen knife, plyers, two screwdrivers and a small amount of cannabis was found.

"Four youths were arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, burglary and possession of cannabis.

"All were bailed pending further enquiries."
