New Mayor of High Wycombe reveals racial abuse since taking office
Imran Hussain is vowing to focus on community support despite online attacks

The newly appointed Mayor of High Wycombe, has revealed that he has been subjected to racial abuse online since taking office, but he remains committed to serving the community.
Cllr Imran Hussain was formally elected at the annual general meeting of the Charter Trustees of High Wycombe on Saturday, May 23.
Cllr Hussain, emphasised his dedication to High Wycombe, describing his role as an "immense honour and privilege."
Despite the negativity encountered online, he has received “hundreds” of supportive messages from residents, expressing gratitude for the encouragement shown during his early days in office.
He acknowledged the online abuse, stating it is reflective of broader societal issues.
"Sadly, this reflects the world we now live in, where negativity on social media can sometimes overshadow the overwhelming majority of positive voices," he said.
Nonetheless, Cllr Hussain is determined to focus on the kindness and support of local residents, stating he will not let anonymous negativity distract him from his responsibilities.
As Mayor, Cllr Hussain has outlined youth and mental health as central themes for his mayoral year, highlighting the damaging effects online abuse can have on young people.
He announced support for charities Wycombe Youth Action and Wycombe Mind, organisations that offer essential youth services, emotional wellbeing, and mental health support across the community.
Cllr Hussain is committed to championing kindness, resilience, and community spirit throughout High Wycombe during his tenure.
He said, "Ours is a town full of hardworking, caring, and decent people, and I look forward to representing every resident with pride, positivity, and dedication throughout the year ahead."
