Woman sprayed with 'acidic substance' in Hatfield

She was taken to hospital with minor eye injuries.

An investigation is underway after a woman was sprayed with an acidic substance in Hatfield.

The incident occurred outside a school on Woods Avenue at around 4.20pm on 27 June.

It is reported that the victim, a woman in her 40s, was sprayed with an unknown substance from a water pistol by a person driving a passing car. It is believed that was substance was acidic.

The victim sustained minor eye injuries which needed hospital treatment.

PC Aimee Smith who is investigating said: “I’d like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident or has any information that may help our ongoing enquiries."
