Woman fighting for her life after Luton attack

Police are working to determine how a woman in her 40s was injured, with four people arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

Bedfordshire Police has launched an investigation in Luton after a woman in her 40s was taken to hospital on 4 May with serious injuries. She remains in a critical condition.

Officers are carrying out multiple enquiries in Ashburnham Road and Stuart Street as part of the ongoing investigation. Four individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Two men in their 40s, and a man and a woman in their 30s, were detained on suspicion of attempted murder. Three of them remain in police custody, while the fourth has been released on police bail.

Detective Inspector Jon Wheeler said, "The investigation is in its early stages as we work to piece together what happened to result in the woman sustaining such injuries. We encourage anyone with information that could assist our investigation to come forward."

He added, "We particularly want to hear from people who were in the Ashburnham Road and Dallow Road area in the last week of April who may have seen or heard anything unusual."
