Motorbike rider arrested after passenger hurt in crash near Whipsnade

Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious single vehicle collision involving a blue Yamaha motorbike near Whipsnade.

Officers were alerted to the crash shortly after 3.15pm on Monday at the roundabout between Dunstable Road and Whipsnade Road.

The motorbike was believed to be travelling along the B4540 from Kensworth when the incident happened.

Emergency services arrived promptly, and the passenger was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and is currently being held for questioning.

Sergeant David McIlwhan from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Serious Collision Investigation Unit is appealing for witnesses.

“We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or the moments leading up to it, or who may have relevant dashcam footage from the area, to please come forward.

“Any information or footage could play an important role in helping us establish the events leading up to this incident,” Sergeant McIlwhan said.
