Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious collision occurred on Friday in Baldock, involving a silver Ford Transit Connect and a mobility scooter driven by a woman in her 80s.

The incident happened around 4pm at a pedestrian crossing on the High Street near Pinnock Lane.

The elderly woman sustained serious injuries and was taken to Lister Hospital for treatment.

The van driver, a 40-year-old man from Northampton, was arrested on suspicion of causing injury by careless driving, driving without insurance, and failing to wear a seatbelt.

Sergeant Dan Cook from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit is urging anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage from the area to get in touch.

Drivers with dash cams are encouraged to check for any footage that could assist the investigation.
