Winslow man to repay £414k after fraud conviction
Terence Capstick ordered to return funds following POCA hearing
Terence Capstick from Winslow, Buckinghamshire, has been ordered to repay £414,994.73 after being convicted for fraud by abuse of position.
The order was issued at a POCA hearing held at Aylesbury Crown Court on 25th September 2026, following a thorough investigation by Thames Valley Police.
Capstick, 77, of Park Road, was previously sentenced to four years in prison on 6th August 2025 for two counts of fraud by abuse of position under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2022.
Over a period of several years, Capstick defrauded a significant amount of money while serving as treasurer, severely breaching the community's trust.
Hannah Mitchell, an accredited financial investigator from the South East Cyber Crime Unit, expressed satisfaction with the court's decision to redirect the funds to the victim organisations. She emphasized the impact Capstick's actions had on the local rural community and underscored the message that engaging in such criminal activities can lead to prosecution and substantial financial restitution.
The public is encouraged to report any fraud-related incidents to Action Fraud, the UK’s national fraud reporting centre, to help deter such offences and safeguard potential victims.
