Police are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage following a serious collision in Ware on Saturday evening (31 January).

The crash, which occurred around 7:30pm along Whitehill in Dane End, involved a silver Nissan Note carrying four people. The vehicle left the road, went up a verge, and came to a stop in a field.

A 13-year-old girl, who was the front seat passenger, sustained serious head injuries and was airlifted to hospital where she remains in critical condition.

Two other passengers, a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, were taken to Lister Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver, a 40-year-old man from Ware, left the scene but was arrested nearby on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, drink driving, and taking a motor vehicle without consent. He is currently in police custody.

Detective Sergeant Ben Heath from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit is urging anyone who was in the area and had dash cam footage or witnessed the car before the collision to come forward.
