Two robbery incidents in Luton prompt police appeal
Detectives are asking for help after recent crimes in Dunstable Road and Mill Street
Police are asking the public for information after two separate robberies took place in Luton earlier this month.
The first robbery occurred between 6am and 8am on Sunday 14th December on Dunstable Road. A man approached the victim, threatened him, and demanded money.
In a second incident on Friday 19th December at approximately 11.45am, a woman was targeted in Mill Street. She was approached by a man who demanded money, but managed to escape into a nearby shop before contacting the police.
A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of robbery in relation to the first robbery on Dunstable Road. He has been released on bail under conditions while investigations continue.
Detective Constable Shannon Wood, investigating, said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who was in these areas at the time and may have seen something that could help. We're also appealing for anyone who may have been a victim to a similar type of offence in the area at this time to get in touch.
“As part of efforts to tackle robbery offences, which often rise in winter and around the festive season, we have increased high visibility patrols in affected areas and we are continuing to explore preventative measures with our partners, such as improved lighting and temporary CCTV."
Anyone with information that could assist officers is asked to either call 101 or report online at beds.police.uk/ro/report, quoting crime references 40/71616/25 and 40/72749/25.
