Bedfordshire Police’s dedicated guns and gangs unit is continuing its work to target and disrupt serious and organised crime after two men were charged with firearms and drugs offences.
Last week, officers from the Boson team carried out a proactive stop and search of a vehicle in Bedford, leading to the arrest of three men on suspicion of drugs offences.
As enquiries progressed, officers searched an area nearby and recovered a firearm.
A man in his 20s has now been charged with conspiracy to possess a firearm, while a second man in his 20s has been charged with being concerned in the supply of Class A and Class B drugs. Both have been remanded into custody.
A man in his 40s has been bailed under conditions while enquiries continue.
Detective Inspector Jon Wheeler from Boson said: “We remain committed to taking robust action to tackle the supply of illegal drugs and remove illegal firearms from our streets, and anyone who threatens the safety of our communities should expect to be targeted.
