Two men charged after shots fired at Luton sports park

Men remanded in custody as police continue investigation

Two men have been charged and remanded in custody following reports of gunfire at Lewsey Sports Park and Pool in Luton.

Police were called to the car park on Pastures Way at around 10pm on 19th December after shots were reportedly fired. No injuries were reported.

Kamarri Lewis, 21, and Tre Lewis, 25, both from Ash Tree Covert, Silsoe, Bedfordshire, have been charged with attempted wounding with intent. On 23rd December, the pair appeared at Luton Magistrates’ Court and were remanded in custody pending their next appearance on 26th January.

A third man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is being questioned by police.

Detective Inspector Patrick Allerton, of Bedfordshire Police, said:

“We know how concerning an incident like this can be, and our teams have worked tirelessly to investigate it, while community officers have stepped up patrols to provide reassurance.

I am continuing to appeal to anyone who knows anything to come forward.”
