Police have arrested two men following a series of vehicle thefts and attempted thefts in Flitwick.

The incidents occurred on Friday 7th August, with arrests following a failed stop of a suspected stolen motorbike along the A6 and through Bedford on Sunday morning, 9th August.

The pursuit ended with the motorbike being abandoned and, after a search of the area, two men were discovered in nearby bushes.

One man, in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, interfering with a motor vehicle, and multiple driving offences.

He was further arrested for possession of Class A drugs after suspected drugs were found in his possession.

He faced charges of dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance, and pleaded guilty to all charges yesterday (Monday).

He received a 36-week prison sentence but has been bailed for the theft and drug offences pending further investigation.

The second man, also in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of two counts of vehicle theft, interfering with a motor vehicle, theft from person, possession of Class B drugs, and being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs.

He has been bailed with conditions as inquiries continue.

Detective Inspector Ben Searle, leading the investigation, is appealing for anyone with information to come forward, including people who believe they may be victims but have not yet contacted the police.

DI Searle emphasised, "Information from our communities is vital in helping us understand the full scale of what is happening, identify any links or patterns and build the evidence we need to take effective action."

Anyone with information is asked to report through online platforms or webchat services, quoting Operation Flintstar.
