Two charged over aggravated burglary in Bushey

Two men have been arrested, in connection with an aggravated burglary in Bushey.

Officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary’s Serious and Organised Crime Investigations Unit (SOCIU) carried out an operation regarding an aggravated burglary, which occurred in Normansfield Close, Bushey, on 12 May 2026. Supported by officers from the Operation Support Group and the Metropolitan Police Service, the SOCIU executed two search warrants at addresses in Hemel Hempstead and Tottenham.

Two men were arrested and a viable firearm, ammunition and Class B drugs were recovered at the London address.

Richard Batchelor, aged 24, of Claymores, Hemel Hempstead, was arrested and subsequently charged with aggravated burglary. He has been remanded into custody.

Eric Burrel, aged 24, of Ferry Lane, Tottenham, was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary, possession of a firearm and possession with intent to supply Class B drugs (cannabis). He has been released on court bail.

Both men will appear at St Albans Crown Court on Thursday 9 July.

Detective Sergeant Chris Cowell, from the SOCIU, said: “Burglary is one of our main priorities and can have a devasting effect on victims, particularly when in rare circumstances violence is involved.
