Detectives have charged two individuals with connections to a robbery that took place at a jewellery shop in Hoddesdon earlier last month.

Calvin Brown, 26, and Joanne Olinski, 56, both from London, have been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery.

Brown also faces a charge of possessing a weapon, while Olinski is held solely for the robbery conspiracy.

The robbery occurred on 2nd March at Garnier’s jewellers located on Hoddesdon High Street, where the shop window was shattered and jewellery was stolen.

Armed response officers arrived promptly but the suspects had already fled the scene.

Both individuals were arrested on 9th April by Hertfordshire Constabulary’s East CID, assisted by the Metropolitan Police Flying Squad.

They are currently remanded in custody, awaiting their next court appearance at St Albans Crown Court set for 12th May.

Detective Constable John Ellams expressed his gratitude toward the Hoddesdon community for providing key information.

Ellams said: “I am pleased to confirm that two people have now been arrested and charged in connection with this incident. These arrests follow extensive enquiries by officers, supported by colleagues from the Metropolitan Police Flying Squad."

“I would like to thank members of the Hoddesdon community who came forward with information, as their support has been vital to progressing this investigation.”

Detective Chief Inspector Scott Mather reinforced the impact thefts have on businesses and communities alike.

Mather said: “We realise the significant impact smash and grab attacks have on business owners and the communities around them."

"Flying Squad Officers, in partnership with Hertfordshire Constabulary, worked at pace to obtain key evidence and identify those involved."

"We are committed to acting swiftly and decisively, responding robustly to raids and tackling violent criminals.”
