Thames Valley Police have successfully wrapped up the Winter of Action, a two-month initiative aimed at reducing crime and antisocial behaviour in town and city centres, beginning on 1st December 2025.

This initiative, launched by the Home Office, targeted three key priority areas: retail crime, street crime and antisocial behaviour, and night-time economy safety, including the prevention of violence against women and girls.

The operation formed part of the Government's Safer Streets mission and Neighbourhood Guarantee, providing heightened police presence and reassurance during the challenging winter season.

Throughout 30 hotspot policing areas, Thames Valley Police achieved notable results.

Officers made 266 arrests for various offences including shoplifting, robbery, and theft.

The initiative also led to 87 positive outcomes relating to retail crime and 23 positive outcomes for antisocial behaviour, utilizing charges, out-of-court disposals, and community resolutions.

In total, over 5700 hotspot patrols were conducted, featuring proactive operations including e-scooter enforcement, antisocial behaviour patrols, and highly visible policing efforts.

Alongside enforcement, teams engaged in 2757 community and business interactions, offering crime prevention advice and direct support for victims and local retailers.

These efforts were undertaken alongside other significant operational duties throughout the winter period.

With the Winter of Action concluded, Thames Valley Police remains dedicated to safeguarding town and city centres and continuing effective, community-focused policing initiatives.
