Thames Valley Air Ambulance vow to spread lifesaving skills
The charity say education the public about CPR will be a major priority next year
Thames Valley Air ambulance has been telling us about their priorities for 2026.
It comes at the end of a year which was busier than 2024 when they answered more than 3,100 critical care call outs.
Incredibly the charity receives no government support and fundraises the more than ten million pounds they need to keep operating each year.
Chief Executive Amanda McLean says next year they want to get more people involved in the charity:
"We've got a fabulous volunteer programme now where people can volunteer with a whole variety of skills and talents they can help us with and we're going to be making more of that next year. "
She also says they want to work on an education programme to encourage people to lean how to give CPR.
Many of their call outs are people who've suffered cardiac arrests and if people know how to respond immediately it gives a far greater chance that the patient can be saved.
She told us:
"We want people to be much more confident to know what to do if someone has a cardiac arrest, so we have CPR champions we've done a CPR bus that we'll be launching officially in the new year so everyone know what do and how to get help if someone has a cardiac arrest that's really important to us."
