Sun cream company premises hit by fire in St Albans
The M25 was temporarily closed earlier this week because of the smoke
Sun cream firm Malibu says it is still finding out how much damage has been done after a fire at their premise in St Albans.
Firefighters from Hertfordshire and London rushed to Ventura Park on Tuesday morning (11 August).
With ten fire engines and an aerial ladder platform deployed, the M25 was closed temporarily in both directions due to heavy smoke.
Affected roads included Colney Street and Old Parkbury Lane, and residents were advised to shut windows and doors.
Malibu Sun released a statement addressing the incident, confirming, ‘Thankfully, everyone is accounted for, and those affected are receiving the appropriate care and support.’
They acknowledged the situation has been 'difficult and upsetting' and promised to update customers as they assess the damage.
Local MP Daisy Cooper shared her concerns on social media: I’m deeply concerned by these reports of a warehouse fire at Ventura Park in St Albans.
"My thoughts are with everyone impacted, and anyone who might be injured. I'm also incredibly grateful to the emergency services."
