A Stevenage resident has been sentenced to four years in prison after admitting to a series of attempted burglaries and thefts in the Chells area of Stevenage this past summer.

Adam Urbanowicz, 28, of Jessop Road, confessed to seven attempted burglaries, three thefts from motor vehicles, and other vehicle-related offences that occurred on Sunday, 28th June.

Hertfordshire Constabulary's Operation Linkage team, focused on tackling home burglaries, led an intensive investigation in response to reports of attempted break-ins in the area.

Utilizing CCTV, forensic evidence, and local enquiries, officers directed their efforts to an address in Stevenage, where Urbanowicz was arrested on Wednesday, 1st July.

Urbanowicz pleaded guilty to all charges and received his sentence at St Albans Crown Court on Thursday, 15th October.

DC Edward Law, from the Op Linkage team, said: “I am pleased Urbanowicz has been jailed for his crimes.

“The nature of the offences were intrusive and can leave victims concerned for their safety and security.

“Thankfully he did not manage gain entry to homes, however his actions demonstrate a clear intent to commit crime and target other people’s property.

“We hope the outcome demonstrates these actions will not be tolerated and shows out commitment to catching criminals and putting them before the courts.

“We thank residents for reporting the incidents which led to the charges and as we now head towards the darker evenings, we’d urge residents to review their home security and take some simple steps to prevent their homes from becoming a potential target for thieves."
