Police have issued a warning after a large quantity of weight loss drugs were stolen from a pharmacy in St Albans.

The burglary took place shortly before 6.40pm on 24th January 2026 at a pharmacy located on Handley Page Way. A significant amount of pharmaceutical items were reported stolen, prompting concerns about their safety if not stored or administered properly.

Detective Sergeant Yolanda Morales-Willis from Hertfordshire Constabulary advised the public to purchase pharmaceutical products only through reputable companies or healthcare professionals.

“These weight loss drugs must be stored correctly and are dangerous if they are not administered in the right way,” Morales-Willis said. “These, along with other pharmaceutical items, should only be prescribed via a healthcare professional or bought through registered companies.

“I urge anyone who is offered these products at unusually low prices, or by unfamiliar companies or individuals, to contact the police.”

Police are appealing for information related to the burglary. Anyone with details is encouraged to quote reference number 41/7888/26 when contacting Hertfordshire Constabulary.

Reports can be made online, through the force’s web chat service at herts.police.uk/contact, or by calling the non-emergency number 101.

For those who wish to remain anonymous, information can be shared via the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or using their online form, which is designed to be untraceable.

The public is urged not to purchase or use pharmaceutical items unless they have come through regulated and legal channels.
