Thames Valley Police has enacted a Section 60 order, after a stabbing in Milton Keynes yesterday evening (1/10).

Officers were called to Avebury Boulevard, at just after 6pm, after a teenage boy was stabbed in the shoulder. The victim remains in a stable condition in hospital, with injuries which are not life-threatening.

A Section 60 order was authorised at 12pm today (2/10) and will remain in place until 12pm tomorrow (3/10).

The order covers Milton Keynes H6 Childs Way, V6 Grafton Street, V7 Saxon Street and H7 Chaffron Way.

The Section 60 order gives officers extra powers, to carry out stop and search checks. The powers have been introduced, to help prevent further violence and keep the public safe.

Two arrests have been made at this stage and officers are continuing their investigation.

Inspector Timothy Craven, who's based at Milton Keynes Police Station, said: “We have introduced this Section 60 order, following an incident in which a teenage boy was stabbed in Milton Keynes yesterday evening.

“We understand incidents of this nature can cause concern within our communities. However, we believe those involved are known to one another and there is no wider threat to the public at this time.

“The order gives officers additional stop and search powers within the designated area and will enable us to take proactive action, to prevent further violence and keep people safe.

“These are emergency powers and the threshold for their use is high. We have authorised them, because we believe they are necessary, to reduce the risk of further serious violence.

“People will see an increased police presence while the order is in place and officers will be carrying out additional patrols and stop and search activity in the area.

“If you have any concerns, please speak to one of our officers, who will be on patrol throughout the day and evening.”

Anyone with information about the stabbing is urged to contact Thames Valley Police by calling 101 or making a report online, quoting reference number 43260513546.
