Puppies dumped by the side of busy motorways in Hertfordshire
Three Rivers District Council are asking anyone with information to come forward
Authorities are appealing for information after four puppies were found abandoned near busy motorways in Hertfordshire.
Two of the pups, Patterdale crosses named Oliver Twist and Artful Dodger, were discovered on 13th January by a member of the public.
Another two puppies, also Patterdale crosses named Bill and Ted, were found four weeks later by a different individual.
All four male pups, aged between 4 and 6 months at the time, were located near the M1 and M25, just a 15-minute drive apart.
They exhibited signs of neglect, including untreated mange, skin infections, worms, and a strong odor, requiring urgent veterinary attention.
Three Rivers District Council’s Animal Welfare & Licensing Inspector, Carmen Zapatero, is urging those with any information about the abandoned puppies to reach out to the district council.
“These poor puppies were in a neglected state and were dumped by busy roads where they could have easily been seriously harmed. This is not just inhumane, it is illegal," Carmen said.
Oliver Twist and Artful Dodger have been rehomed by Battersea, and Bill and Ted are recovering well in kennels, set to be taken to Battersea soon for adoption.
If anyone is interested in offering a home visit the Battersea website.
Carmen added, “We suspect these puppies came from the same household and believe there could be more of the same litter out there in the same or even worse state. If you recognize or know anything about these puppies, please contact the council.”
