Police say a man in his forties was attacked last night, following the world cup semi-final between England vs Argentina
An investigation is underway after a man suffered puncture wounds during an altercation near a Croxley Green pub following the England vs Argentina World Cup semi-final.
The incident occurred on 15th July at around 10.30pm in Rugby Way, close to the Fox and Hounds pub.
The man, aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital where it was confirmed his injuries were not serious.
This altercation happened shortly after the football match, which brought substantial crowds to pubs throughout the country.
A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody while investigations continue.
Detective Sergeant Colin Knowles from the Criminal Investigation Department shared that several individuals might have recorded the incident, stating: “We believe that a number of people were in the area at the time, with several of them filming the incident. If you have any footage, we’d ask you to please upload it via our online portal so that it can be reviewed as part of our enquiries.”
Sergeant Knowles is keen to hear from others who witnessed the events, noting: “While thankfully the victim was not seriously injured, behaviour of this kind has no place in our communities and we’re working to progress the investigation.”
The public is urged to upload footage via the police's online portal.
