Police investigate suspected arson at The Swan Pub in Stewkley
Officers appeal for witnesses and any video footage from local area
Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses following a suspected arson at The Swan Pub in Stewkley early on Saturday morning, 20th December.
A fire was discovered in the walkway area of the pub’s garden between 5.45am and 6.30am before spreading into the kitchen.
The victim, a man in his 30s, was not injured during the incident.
Following an assessment from fire services and a review of the possible cause, it is believed the fire may have been started deliberately and was reported to Thames Valley Police.
Detective Constable Arina Matvejenko said the investigation into the circumstances of the suspected arson is ongoing, with officers aiming to gather evidence and determine how the fire began.
She encouraged anyone who might have information or video footage to come forward.
“Our thorough investigation is ongoing to work out the circumstances of this offence.
As part of our investigation, I am appealing to anyone that may have witnessed anything or has information that may help to please get in touch.
We are also appealing to the individual who was found sleeping in the walkway area in the early hours of the morning on Saturday, who may be able to assist us with our investigation.
