Police renew appeal over Stevenage rape
Police re-issue an e-fit image -three years on from the incident
Officers investigating a rape in Stevenage have re-issued an e-fit image of a man they believe could help with their enquiries—three years on from the incident.
The renewed appeal comes today (Friday 30 May), marking the anniversary of the attack, as police continue their efforts to secure justice for the victim.
The incident happened on Monday 30 May 2022, when a 16-year-old girl was raped in a wooded area between Hampson Park and Lonsdale Road, between 12pm and 1pm.
An e-fit of a man believed to have crucial information was first released at the time. Detectives are now re-releasing the image in the hope that someone will come forward.
As part of the renewed efforts, local residents may see officers in the area distributing leaflets and speaking to the public.
Detective Constable Lauren Eifert from the Sexual Offences Investigation Team (SOIT) said:
“This was a terrifying experience for the victim, and we are absolutely committed to finding the person responsible.
“We believe the man in the e-fit may hold important information and I urge anyone who recognises him—or who has any details at all—to come forward.”
She added that it’s never too late to report what you know: “Even if it seems small, your information could make a real difference to the investigation.”
