Officers were called at around 2.45pm to reports that a grey Volkswagen Golf had been involved in a collision with a white Renault truck, which was parked in a layby on the A4280 St Neots Road.

Emergency services attended, but the passenger of the Golf – a woman in her 80s – was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The driver – a man, also in his 80s – was taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Detective Inspector Craig Wheeler, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“First and foremost our thoughts are with the family of the woman who has died at this sad time.

We are asking for anyone who witnessed the incident, has information, or may have dash cam footage of before or after the collision, to get in touch with us as soon as possible as this could help us with our enquiries.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage is asked to report online at:
