Police have launched an investigation following a fatal collision on the northbound carriage of the M1 yesterday (Tuesday 14 April), which resulted in the death of a man in his 30s.

Officers were called at around 5am to a report that a blue Alfa Romeo Giulia was involved in a collision with a barrier whilst entering the slip road at junction 12 before coming to a stop in a nearby field.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene when emergency services attended.

Detective Constable Kirk Caldicutt from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has died in this tragic incident.

“We are asking for anyone who witnessed the incident, has information, or may have dashcam footage of before or after the collision, to get in touch with us as soon as possible as this could help us with our enquiries.”
