Driver left with serious head injury after van hit tree
Bedfordshire Police is appealing for witnesses after a serious collision on the A1 northbound at Astwick left a man with a serious head injury.
The incident, involving a grey Citroen C5 and a white Citroen Berlingo van, occurred at around 6.30pm on Monday, 2nd February.
Police said the van left the carriageway after the crash and collided with a tree. The driver, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital with a serious head injury, while a passenger in the van sustained minor injuries.
The driver of the car, a man in his 30s, was not injured.
Sergeant Alex Thomas, from Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, stated they are working to establish the circumstances of the collision.
“We are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time, to come forward,” Thomas said.
“Our thoughts are with the man who has been seriously injured, and we continue to support his family at this difficult time.”
