Police appeal after reports of dog biting child on Rickmansworth canal bridge

Officers seek to trace owners of Border Collie involved in incident on Frogmore Lane

Police are appealing for information following a dog bite incident in Rickmansworth.

It is reported that a 9-year-old girl was riding a scooter along Frogmore Lane at around 5pm on Tuesday 21 April, when a when a dog ran up to her on the canal bridge and bit her on the top of her leg.

The girl was accompanied by her mother.

The dog, which was on a lead and was being walked by an elderly couple, has been described as a Border Collie, which was white, black and grey in colour and had a distinctive patch around one eye.

Police are in need of information to help trace the owners of the dog.

PC Christian Gottmann, who is investigating, said:

“Thankfully the girl wasn’t seriously injured but it was a frightening experience for her.

“We’re keen to trace and speak to the owners of the dog. If this is you, or you have information on who it might be, please get in touch. Thank you.”
