Firefighters tackle three-hectare field fire in Penn Bottom
Crews from multiple locations worked to control blaze
Firefighters have been dealing with a significant field fire in Penn Bottom.
The incident on Tuesday (25 August) involved around three hectares of grass, trees, and hedgerow, and required the mobilisation of six fire crews from Beaconsfield, High Wycombe, Amersham, Gerrards Cross, and the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, supported by three officers.
Efforts to extinguish the fire included using two hose reel jets and beaters.
A road closure was put in place, and the public was asked to avoid the area while firefighting operations were ongoing.
By 17:43 on the same day, the fire was brought under control, with crews conducting damping down operations to prevent any remaining hotspots.
At the height of the incident, eight crews were in attendance, with additional support from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service.
The flames spread to an adjacent woodland area, and one outbuilding suffered damage from smoke and fire.
Firefighters used a range of equipment, including one main jet, four hose reel jets, a lightweight portable pump, light gear, and beaters to manage the blaze.
Although the presence at the site is being scaled back, some firefighters remain on location to ensure safety.
The road closure remains in effect, and authorities continue to advise the public to steer clear of the area.
