A man from Oxhey has been jailed for sexually assaulting a young boy.

Nathan Jones, aged 30, was found guilty of sexually assaulting a child and causing a child to engage in sexual activity, having denied the offences.

The incidents happened between 2013 and 2014 when Jones was in his late teens, at an address in Watford.

Jones, of Hillside Crescent, had also denied four counts of rape and was found not guilty of these offences by a jury at St Albans Crown Court on Tuesday 5 May.

At the same court today (Friday 7 August), Jones was sentenced to a total of two years and nine months in prison.

He was also handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which prohibits any contact with a child under 16 for 10 years, and a 10-year restraining order, preventing any contact with the victim.

Jones will also be on the sex offenders’ register for life.

Detective Constable Hannah Graydon, from Hertfordshire Constabulary’s Joint Child Protection Team, said: “I would first like to commend the victim for reporting Jones’ crimes to the police and for his bravery throughout the trial.

“While nothing can undo what happened to him, I hope this sentence reflects the impact of the offences and shows how our officers will stop at nothing to secure justice.”
