There are no asylum hotels in Buckinghamshire and none are planned, the council has confirmed.

A small number of people seeking asylum currently live in the county, mainly families, but none are staying in hotels.

Leader of Buckinghamshire Council, Councillor Steven Broadbent., said: “When the Home Office proposes placing any asylum seekers in the county, the council is consulted. We work with the NHS, police, community safety teams and schools to understand the impact of any proposed placement.”

He added that local ward councillors are involved in all consultations and that Buckinghamshire residents have shown “huge compassion and generosity” in supporting those in need, including hosting Ukrainian and Afghan families.

Mr Broadbent also addressed rumours about the QD building in Aylesbury, saying: “The Home Office has confirmed that this property is not in the pipeline to be used and has not been approached about it.”

The council said it remains committed to providing clear information to avoid misinformation and ensure residents are kept informed.
